About coffee from Guatemala
Several family-owned farms in the municipality of Huehuetenango cultivate coffee on small plots of about two acres, intercropped with corn and beans for household consumption. Due to limited infrastructure for coffee processing, these families collaborate with Unitrade Coffee, a centrally located wet mill in Huehuetenango. Through this partnership—and with support from CoffeeCare, an organization dedicated to education, nutrition, and health—families gain access to safe, nurturing spaces where their children can learn, grow, and play while the parents focus on harvesting coffee.
